Sadly, what happened to Hepburn in this instance is not unusual. Women’s contributions are all too often “accidently” erased from history.
What my own experience taught me was the value of flexibility. If I hear anyone complain that the one-year maximum for maternity leave permitted in Canada is overly generous, I have to keep myself from attacking.
“I’m not very interested in telling women how they can improve themselves to fit into the existing system. I’m much more interested in…how the system can be changed….”
