When you start exploring LiisBeth, you will see our ¤ icon throughout and you might wonder, what does it represent?  It is actually an adaptation of the international typographic symbol used to denote an unknown currency, which we thought was the perfect starting point for creating a graphic representation of LiisBeth’s inclusive and empowering ethos.  We choose it for its meaning, round feminine shape and because it has four points. In the case of the medicine wheel, the four points represents the four quadrants of life: intellectual, spiritual, physical and emotional self. The four points can also represent the four compass points, or the four nations of the on the planet according to First Nations lore: Peoples of the East, West, North, and South. However for us, the four points represents the primary elements in systems of inequality: political, economic, gender, and social. We loved the idea of adopting a symbol of unknown currency, or rather, not easily defined, and interpreting it to stand for a powerful feminine, entrepreneurial “currency” as a commanding force that will one day end gender inequality.
